ADAS, an RSK Group are looking for an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Consultant. This role can be hybrid, to be based out of the Boxworth, Cambridgeshire or ADAS Gleadthorpe, Nottinghamshire on a full-time, permanent basis. 

We are looking for someone to join our Crop Protection team to support and manage large integrated pest management (IPM) projects. You will work across disciplines e.g. invertebrate pests, weeds and diseases, on projects that focus on developing and demonstrating cost-effective approaches as part of holistic IPM strategies.

The role will include supporting the management of existing European funded projects as well as communication with project partners and stakeholders, marketing, disseminating project outputs and report writing. This will be a predominately desk-based role that requires good communication skills and the ability to work independently.

The role will suit someone looking to develop a career in holistic IPM practices. Occasional travel within the UK and to Europe would be required as part of the role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and manage all aspects of existing IPM projects.
  • Plan and deliver project meetings, develop knowledge exchange materials and reports in line with agreed project milestones.
  • Clear communication with stakeholders, project partners and funders.
  • Working independently and with project partners/ADAS colleagues to market and promote project materials and outputs.
  • Support senior and principal consultants to develop new project ideas and proposals, as well as your own.
  • Develop a good profile and reputation within and outside ADAS, with clients, collaborators and the scientific community.

 

Successful candidates will:

  • Have a degree BSc (Hons) or MSc in a relevant subject e.g. agriculture, biological sciences.
  • Knowledge and experience of IPM research and dissemination in the UK.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of crop production and integrated pest management to meet client needs.
  • Ensure that scientific research projects are planned, managed and stated objectives achieved.
  • Demonstrate strong ability for analysing and organising large, complex datasets.
  • Write client reports, scientific papers and bids that are clear, logical and persuasive, meeting the needs of clients and achieving the objective of the communication for ADAS.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences to transfer the knowledge gained.  This will include speaking at grower meetings, presenting to conferences of scientists and/or practitioners and writing technical articles and leaflets.
  • Recognise and understand the team’s aims and objectives and participate fully in achieving these with team members by adapting your own input to suit the needs of the team.
  • Have a clear presenting style and demonstrable skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work across a range of internal groups and external organisations.
  • Have experience of managing multi-partner, international projects (desirable)
  • Visit other ADAS sites, depending on the needs of the different projects.
  • Full UK driving licence.
